Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport, sometimes called Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle or Roissy, is located 23 km northeast of Paris. It is the largest and most important airport in France, ranking second in Europe and eighth in the World in terms of passenger traffic. Charles de Gaulle is home to the main connecting module, as well as the headquarters of Air France, in addition to receiving flights of other carriers (XL Airways France, Blue Line, Delta Air Lines).

Four ways to get from the airport to Paris

There are many ways to reach the French capital:

Personal or rented car

The A1 (Porte de la Chapelle) or A3 (Porte de Bagnolet) highways take 30-60 minutes to reach the city. You can rent a car at several car rental shops located near the terminals (it is better to make an application in advance).

Cab

Follow the “Taxis” signs at the exit of the baggage claim hall to the parking lot. The fare depends on the distance and the fare in force (Paris or suburbs, daytime, nighttime). On average, a trip to the right bank neighborhoods will cost 50 € and to the left bank neighborhoods 55 €. Cabs can also be booked in advance or called upon arrival.

Roissybus

Bus

There are several different types of buses from the airport to the city, tickets for which can be purchased from vending machines, ticket offices or chauffeurs.

  • Roissybus shuttle bus

The only vehicle serving three terminals at Charles de Gaulle Airport. The destination is the heart of Paris, the Opéra district. The bus runs daily every 15-20 minutes, starting in the early morning; the current fare is 11 €. You can get to the stop by following the signs labeled “Bus”.

  • Roissy-Charles de Gaulle signature buses

There are two routes: Roissy-CDG – Paris-Eiffel Tower and Roissy-CDG – Gare de Lyon – Gare de Montparnasse. Buses leave every half hour; fare is €17 (one way) or €30 (round trip); children under 4 are free. To get to the bus stop, follow the “Bus” signs.

  • Buses No350, 351

City lines with numerous stops, which can increase the travel time considerably (approximately 1.5 hours). Boarding is at Roissypole station; fare is 6 €.

  • The No350 bus follows the route “Charles-de-Gaulle Airport – Gare du Nord – Gare de l’Orient”.
  • Bus No351 runs from the airport to Place de la Nation.
  • Noctilien.

The No140 and No143 buses depart from Roissy-Charles de Gaulle to Paris at night. Although their final stations are the same (East Station – Gare de l’Est.), they follow different routes. Boarding is from Roissypole station and the fare costs €8

RER (commuter train)

Between the airport and Paris, there are express trains running non-stop to Gare du Nord and trains stopping at intermediate stations. On average, trains depart every 35 minutes. For Terminals 1 and 3, boarding is from Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 station; for Terminal 2, boarding is from Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2-TGV. The adult fare is €10; children (4-9) €7; no tickets are required for toddlers under three years old.
