Salvador Dali first visited the French capital in 1927. Here he met Pablo Picasso, André Breton, Max Jacob and other artists.

Somewhat later, in the early 30s of the last century, the young Catalan moved to Paris. The reason for this decision was a meeting with the wife of surrealist poet Paul Eluard – the fatal beauty Gala (Elena Diakonova), who became a muse, model and the only woman in the artist’s life.

Initially, Gala and Salvador moved into Paul Éluard’s apartment on rue Bécarel. Later, they changed addresses, moving to more and more prestigious neighborhoods as their wealth increased.

The artist and his wife repeatedly visited Paris even after the end of the Second World War. They preferred to stay in the royal suite of the Hotel Le Meurice, located on the prestigious Rue de Rivoli.
