Paris is a city with a very ancient history. On the territory of the present metropolis, the first settlements appeared in prehistoric times. The first city that went down in history was located on the island of Cité. It was a settlement of the Celts, which was called Lutetia. Later Lutetia was conquered by the troops of Julius Caesar, and up to the fifth century AD the territory belonged to the Roman Empire.
